Lance Armstrong No Longer With Nike, LIVESTRONG

Lance Armstrong is one of the more recognizable but controversial athletes in history. His many cycling accomplishments, even after battling back from cancer, were overshadowed by years of doping allegations. And most recently, Armstrong decided not to combat those allegations any further and has made the decision to step down as chairman of LIVESTRONG. The foundation introduced the well-known yellow bracelets in 2004, an accessory that represents Lance's courage and survival. Nike has also ended their relationship with Armstrong who will be stripped of his 7 Tour de France titles.

Here's the official statement from Nike:

Due to the seemingly insurmountable evidence that Lance Armstrong participated in doping and misled Nike for more than a decade, it is with great sadness that we have terminated our contract with him. Nike does not condone the use of illegal performance enhancing drugs in any manner.

Nike plans to continue support of the Livestrong initiatives created to unite, inspire and empower people affected by cancer.
