The notion of using the past to inspire the present and future has led adidas to an unprecedented period of boom. Models like the NMD have gone from hot sellers to icon status in what feels like a fortnight. As an ode to this design philosophy, the Three Stripes brand celebrates photography in the same way with a special exhibition.

Take a look at the gorgeous shots taken by some talented artists. adidas has partnered with UNDFTD as well as Camera Obscura. The latter helps visitors take a look at some of the earlier techniques used to capture and process images, while the former exhibits work from 12 LA-based photographers that were challenged to tell a story using just one roll of film.

The results are two incredible tributes to the cyclical nature of the design process. It seems like the past will almost always, to some degree, inform the future. The UNDFTD residency is open until July 19th in LA and the Camera Obscura exhibit goes on until July 16th in both NYC and Venice. Don't miss out!
