What happens when you have only 150 pairs of one sneaker, give a small portion of that to one New York City retailer and let everyone know about it? National headlines. That's exactly what happened for the release of the Pigeon Nike Dunk SB's. Limited to only 150 pairs worldwide the sneaker was available at just one store in New York City. With a rumored 25 pairs available at the store, campers were lined up for over 7 days and faced all kinds of trechourous weather conditions. When it was all said and done, the weather was the least of peoples worries, as riots broke out when sneakerheads who waited days to get their shoe were left empty handed. Not only that but rumors spread that goons were scattered throughout the area of the store waiting to sneak up on anyone coming out the shop. It got so bad that NYPD was personally paying each buyers cab fare home in order to prevent any incidents. At the end of the day the release of the Pigeon Dunk made national headlines and is arguably the most hyped sneaker of all time. Unforunately it comes in at number five on our list, just a few short points from each of the next four sneakers.
